Visionland in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China (3/1/2018)

I went to Visionland in Liuzhou today. This is an OCT park. OCT is famous for its Happy Valley parks. Visionland is a nice park and Light Speed became my 3rd mega-lite coaster today. It is a fun ride, but it shook a lot in the last car. Flame Dragon is a Golden Horse mine train. I rode it 3 times and it was lousy all three times. It shook too much. I tried it in a different car each time I rode it.

Visionland is a cross between a Happy Valley park and a Fantawild park. It has a lot of simulator/theater based attractions like Fantawild does. In all, it is a very nice park............but.........there is potential for disaster-ALL OF THE THRILL RIDES HAVE A 90 KILOGRAM weight limit. Yes. You read that right. Many of the family rides have no weight limit, but the two large coasters that are open, the space shot and the chutes ride all have a 90 kg weight limit. At 98 kg, I was permitted to ride and nobody said anything otherwise-even when I asked. One problem is that the rules posted near the ticket booth only list the height restrictions and say nothing about weight restrictions. After several rides on Light Speed, I asked about this and was told to ignore it. Maybe the weight restrictions are posted to appease the government. Weight restrictions have never been posted at other OCT parks, not even the new Chongqing park, but I have noticed this type of thing becoming more common. Make a note of this before visiting Visionland. You may be turned away or you may get to ride. Know before you go. As the 90 kg policy exists for the mega-lite, we now know it is not a safety issue. For those who want to scream that OCT owns the park and can do whatever they want, here is something to think about-In Letter The Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King Jr. mentioned that black kids were not allowed to go to the amusement park. By the logic of some people, whites built the parks and can turn away whoever they want.

Whatever the case may be, these types of restrictions here in China are becoming more commonplace. For those wanting to experience Chinese culture, I suggest Taiwan. Taiwan proves that Chinese people can and do operate parks without useless policies.

I hope an American park will get one of these.

This is my favorite Intamin ride.

Notice the 90 kg weight limit. My 98 kg frame didn't break the coaster during the 8 rides I took.

The bumper cars have an interesting name.

Here are the rules for Flame Dragon. Once again, there is a 90 kg weight limit. This will finish the TR.
